Who am I?

I am Abbas Haider Ali. Based out of Washington DC, I work with software companies on the sales side of their business. Specifically, I take my passion for all things tech + what my company does and use it to drive revenue. My roles have ranged from systems & sales engieering, to product management and strategy.

I love to win and bring that to the companies that I work for. Right now, that's xMatters, a company that makes relevance engines.

What on earth is that? Think of it this way, there are lots of tools and processes that our clients (Global 2000) use. They're supposed to empower people but do so only when you're staring at them or someone alerts you to do so. Relevance engines bridge the gap between these systems and the people that need to be connected to them. Not everyone all the time (that would be irrelevant), but just to the people that need information at that specific time based on their role, date, time, interests, location, status, etc. Add to that multi-channel communication (email, phone, SMS, etc.) and make it two-way communication with a dash of mobile apps, and you have yourself a purpose built relevance engine. We make them for IT, Business Continuity, Emergency Communications, Customer Communications, and others. Check the website for more.

Aside from my work (yes, I am a self-admitted workaholic) and technology/gadgets of all flavors, I love to travel, enjoy fast cars, and the occasial walk on the beach.

Drive The New 2008 BMW M3

The title might be a little deceptive, but the intent is certainly there. I would love to get my hands on one of the new M3's and just open it up on the road. Unfortunately, I have about as much access to one of these as the next guy so I have to wait until Spring.

To get current owners to upgrade and start grooming new fanboys, the crew in Germany have made available a new game where you can drive around town in a simulated M3.

I have not had a chance to play it for very long yet (there's that job coming the way again), but it was awesome to jump in behind the wheel and go for a ride around the famous Nurburgring.

Controls that I observed were very detailed and included traction control options, dynamic stability control, automatic (DSG) or manual modes, and other customizations. The game also appears to support multiplayer options including both LAN and internet modes.

Car finally tinted

I put it off for many months, but I did finally take the time to get some info on a good tint, both technology and installer, and get it all taken care of.

With some sound advice from Brian C., I chose to go with Huper Optik's ceramic tint which is ridiculously efficient at blocking out UV and heat. You can read all about the stuff on their

Once the car cools down, I've had a number of days where I have to turn the AC down to the lowest setting because the sun doesn't keep heating up the car. That opposed to running it at full blast the entire time on days when it's >95 degrees.

I recommend the ceramic tint over regular dye tints to anyone. You can't get it as dark, but it works better in every other way.
